Everton fans are suffering as usual at season begin. In GW1 they didn’t play because of some crazy rioters and in GW2 they were facing Queens Park Rangers at home. QPR lost their first game at their home ground 0:4 to Bolton – so expectations in the blue half of Liverpool were high – and those hopes were bitterly smashed: 1-nil defeat, at home!
Another surprise was Newcastle’s derby win at Sunderland. 1:0 and Newcastle’s cheap defenders are getting more and more popular in the fantasy game.Manchester United had no problems defeating Spurs 3-nil. Anderson (6.0) and Cleverly (5.5) got there second starting spot in Sir Alex’s eleven; Anderson even scored, the young defenders Smalling (5.5), P.Jones (5.5) and Evans (4.5) did very well.
Manchester City had to work hard to overcome Bolton 3:2. Once more David Silva was leading the sky blue gang, this week Dzeko took the glory from Aguero. Tevez is back and Balotelli doesn’t want to warm the bench – it will be interesting whom Mancini will favour.
Arsene Wenger is going through hard times after losing to Liverpool 2:0 at the Emirates. After Fabregas Nasri also left the building – there are still 8 days to buy replacements.
Wolves took another scalp defeating Fulham 2-nil. Roger Johnson gave McCarthy’s defence stability and they are now in third position right behind the Manchesters.
Swansea and Wigan played out a nil-all draw where Swansea’s Dutch keeper Vorm (4.0) saved a penalty. Norwich held Stoke to a 1:1 draw and Chelsea had huge problems to bag all three points against Hodgson’s Baggies scoring late to win 2:1.
Aston Villa made no mistake and sent home Blackburn 3:1. Agbonlahor shone in the first half but got injured and is a doubt for the coming fixture.
Manchester United vs Arsenal
Will anyone bet a penny on Arsenal? Fabregas gone, Nasri gone, Wilshere injured, Arshavin not in form, Koscielny doubtful, Gibbs injured. It seems to come down to Robin van Persie to save the day.
The home side got injured players as well (Vidic, Ferdinand, Rafael, Valencia) but their replacements Smalling, Evans, Jones and Cleverly are doing extremely well. Anderson is back to form and up front Sir Alex got the choice – Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck and Berbatov. Well, I didn’t mention Nani and Ashley Young.
Aston Villa vs Wolverhampton
It’s hard to rate a derby, both teams had a good start. Villa’s defence (all rated around 5 millions), N’Zogbia (7.5), Bent (10.0) and Wolves R. Johnson (5.0), Jarvis (6.1), Doyle (6.0) and Fletcher (6.5) are worth to consider.
Tottenham vs Manchester City
City is getting better and better, now Nasri has joined. Silva is ruling, A. Johnson, Milner, Barry had good games, Yaya Toure is getting more freedom to attack. Their defence is strong and Aguero, Dzeko, Tevez and Balotelli are top strikers.
Spurs are not into gear yet; the Modric saga doesn’t help either. It will be tough!
Liverpool vs Bolton
Under normal circumstances you can bank on the Reds. New left-back Jose Enrique (5.0) is a top signing, their midfield is crowded (Adam, Downing, Kuyt, Meireles, Lucas, etc.) and Suarez (9.6) is one of the Premier League’s best.
But don’t underestimate Coyle’s men. Cahill (5.5) in defence, Eagles (5.5) and Petrov (5.5) in midfield and K. Davies (6.5) and Klasnic (6.0) up front could spoil the Reds day.
Chelsea vs Norwich
Chelsea is too strong for this one. Hilario (4.5) is a bargain, Bosingwa at 5.6 is still cheap, Torres could find his boots.
Norwich’s DeLaet (4.0) is a good offer but not in this game.
West Bromwich Albion vs Stoke City
Hodgson’s men were very unfortunate to lose their first two games against Manchester United and Chelsea. Long (6.0) scored in each match, Odemwingie (7.5) is back as well.
Stoke got a tough defence; Begovic (5.0) in goal and Huth (6.0), Shawcross (5.0) and Woodgate (4.5) in the back-line are hard to out play. Pennant (6.0) and Walters (5.5) are supporting K. Jones (6.5) well with crosses.
Newcastle vs Fulham
Newcastle hasn’t conceded yet and R. Taylor (4.1), S. Taylor (4.0) and Simpson (4.0) are the fantasy game’s stars – 2 clean sheets for a bargain price. Their attack is not yet in full swing.
Fulham disappointed in Wolverhampton but they got a tight defence (Hangeland 6.5 to Senderos at 4.5). Dempsey (8.5) and Zamore (7.0) can do some damage.
Swansea vs Sunderland
To buy Holland’s No2 paid off – the Dutchman Vorm (4.0) saved a penalty and a point against Wigan and Sunderland’s attack will have to find a good day to score. Dyer (4.5) and Graham (5.0) are other good Swansea options.
Mignolet (4.5), Brown (4.5), Sessegnon (6.5) and Gyan (8.0) are having chances to earn some points.
Wigan vs Queens Park Rangers
Al Habsi and Figueroa at 4.5 are good priced, Alcaraz (4.5) is injured and Moses (5.0) is doubtful. Wigan managed only draws against the other promoted clubs.
QPR won at Everton and are full of confidence. Smith (5.0) could turn out to be a bargain. Taarabt (6.5) is not yet in form.
Blackburn vs Everton
Both teams had a really bad start to the season and it is hard to find a player who stands out. Everton’s Baines (8.0) is expensive but well known for his crosses and set pieces.
This fixtures smells like a draw.
